The Toronto Police Service’s Hold Up Squad is requesting the public’s assistance in relation to three carjacking robberies.
On Wednesday, May 19, 2022, police responded to three carjacking robberies that occurred in the following areas between 4:27 p.m. and 6:18 p.m. :
- Sheppard Avenue East and Willowdale Avenue
- Sheppard Avenue East and Dean Park Road
- Sheppard Avenue East and Markham Road
It is reported that in each incident the following occurred:
- the victim was near their car that was parked in their driveway
- several men stopped their white sedan in front of the victim’s driveway, then one suspect immediately jumped out of the passenger door and ran toward the victim
- the suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for the victim’s car keys
- the suspect took the victim’s keys and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle
- the remaining suspects then fled the scene in the white sedan
The victims’ stolen vehicles are described as the following:
- 2008 white Lexus IS250 with the Ontario licence plate AMDT 138
- 2019 black Toyota Rav4 with the Ontario licence plate CJBN 929
- 2019 blue Toyota Corolla with the Ontario licence plate CHTK 924
The suspect vehicle is described as a:
- white four-door Hyundai Elantra
The suspects are described as the following:
- man, black, 20s, 6’0″, 150-160 lbs, black hooded sweater, black mask, armed with a black handgun
- man, dark complexion, 20s, 5’9″-6’0″, white hooded sweater wtih hood up, short black hair, black facial hair
- man, slim build, wearing all black clothing, black mask, armed with a black handgun
All suspects should be considered armed and dangerous; if located do not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who resides in the area, who has video surveillance, or was driving in the area and has dashcam footage to contact police.
