As tight security arrangements, foggy weather and COVID-19 restrictions marked the 73rd Republic Day in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on Wednesday.
Chandigarh, as well as most of Punjab and Haryana, was cloudy and foggy since early in the morning.
At district headquarters in Chandigarh and the states, a parade featuring police, home guards, and other units was held.
At a state-level function near here in Mohali, Governor Banwarilal Purohit raised the national flag.
A national flag was unfurled by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at Panchkula, and a national flag was raised by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Ambala.
The Indian flag was raised in Jalandhar by Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
The chief ministers greeted the people on these auspicious occasions.
Channi said in a tweet, “All of our fundamental values of sovereignty, socialism, secularism, democracy, justice, equality, human dignity, and unity must be preserved and safeguarded.”
On the 73rd Republic Day, the Haryana Governor conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the state and the country. Let’s resolve to do our best to preserve and promote the spirit of equality, justice, fraternity, and liberty, the four foundations of the Constitution.
A ceremony to unveil the national flag was conducted by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala in Jind, Haryana.
Punjab and Haryana held a variety of events in district headquarters, including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Moga, Bathinda, Panchkula, Karnal and Panipat.
Celebrations in district headquarters were led by Punjab and Haryana ministers.
