TORONTO: The City of Toronto has announced that City staff raised $2,507,651 in support of United Way Greater Toronto through its annual United Way Employee Campaign. For the 20th year, City staff exceeded the campaign fundraising goal, this year by more than $300,000, demonstrating the Toronto Public Service’s commitment to supporting Toronto communities.
The City is one of United Way’s most vital and longest-standing partners. The 2022 campaign marked the 21st consecutive year that City employees have donated more than $1 million through the campaign to create a positive impact and help support residents and the community.
With its “One City, One Team, One Campaign” approach, the United Way Employee Campaign was strengthened through collaboration with City agencies and corporations to collectively benefit the community and a goal to raise $2.2 million.
The United Way Employee Campaign is jointly led by the City’s unions, associations and management and receives support from CUPE Local 79, CUPE Local 416, the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’ Association (TPFFA), Toronto Public Library Workers Union CUPE Local 4948, CUPE Local 2998 and COTAPSA, as well as City agencies and corporations including the Toronto Public Library, Toronto Zoo, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Toronto Parking Authority and Exhibition Place. For the second time this year, the City is also collaborating with CreateTO, Toronto Police Service, Toronto Hydro Corporation, TTC and the Toronto Community Housing Corporation.
