Toyota has initiated a recall affecting over 28,000 vehicles in Canada due to an issue with forward “creep” while in neutral. The recall applies to 2023-24 models of the Toyota Tundra, Sequoia, and the Lexus LX 600.
The company stated that certain components of the transmission may not promptly disengage when the vehicle is shifted to neutral, potentially allowing engine power to continue transferring to the wheels. This can result in the vehicle unintentionally creeping forward at low speeds on flat surfaces without the brakes applied, thereby increasing the risk of a collision.
Affected Toyota and Lexus dealerships will provide a complimentary software update for the transmission to address the issue. Owners of the approximately 28,061 vehicles involved in the recall can expect to receive notifications by late April.
This recall is part of a series of recent recalls by Toyota, which has included nearly 100,000 vehicles in Canada in previous months.
