Man Arrested in Sexual Assault Investigation, Bay Street and Adelaide Street area

The Toronto Police Service is notifying the public of an arrest made in a Sexual Assault investigation.
On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to a call for a Sexual Assault in the Bay Street and Adelaide Street area.
It is alleged that:
on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at approximately 2:28 p.m., the female victim was walking in the Bay Street and Adelaide Street area
an unknown male approached the female from behind
the male then sexually assaulted the victim
the male then continued walking northbound on Bay Street and fled the area

Through further investigation, police also connected the male suspect to another sexual assault at the TTC Spadina subway station.
On Thursday, November 7, 2024, at approximately 2:20 p.m., police responded to a call for a Sexual Assault at the TTC Spadina subway station located in the Spadina Road and Bloor Street West area.
It is further alleged that:
the female victim was standing on the subway platform
the male suspect approached the female and sexually assaulted her
the suspect then boarded a subway train and left the area
the victim and suspect are not known to each other
Investigators were able to identify the suspect, and on Monday, November 11, 2024, he turned himself into police.
Javonte Williams, 23, of Toronto, was charged with:
two counts of Sexual Assault
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 301.
