Suspect Sought in Sexual Assault investigation, Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area, UPDATE: Man Arrested

The Toronto Police Service is notifying the public of an arrest made in a Sexual Assault investigation.
On Thursday, May 15, 2025, police responded to a call for a Sexual Assault in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue East area.
It is reported that:
on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at approximately 5 p.m., the victim was on board a TTC bus
the suspect, a man, stood beside the victim and sexually assaulted her
It was further reported that:
on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m., the victim was on board a TTC bus
the man got up to exit the bus and sexually assaulted her

Investigators were able to identify the suspect and on Thursday, May 22, 2025, the suspect was located and arrested.
Ankit Mukherjee, 26, of Toronto has been charged with:
two counts of Sexual Assault
He was scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 106.
