Three People Arrested in Carjacking Investigation, Rosedale, Mount Pleasant West, and Clanton Park Neighbourhoods, Image Released

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of three arrests made in a Carjacking investigation.
On Sunday, November 3, 2024, at approximately 9:08 p.m., police responded to a Person with a Gun call in the Yonge Street and Davenport Road area.
It is alleged that:
the victim was filling their vehicle with gas when two male suspects approached wearing masks to conceal their identities
one suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for the car keys
a brief struggle ensued, and the suspects fled empty-handed
At approximately 9:10 p.m., police responded to a Person with a Gun call in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue East area.
It is further alleged that:
the victim was returning to their parked vehicle when several suspects approached wearing masks to conceal their identities
one suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for the car keys
the suspects assaulted the victim and took the keys
the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle
At approximately 9:35 p.m., police responded to a Person with a Gun call in the Wilson Avenue and Bathurst Street area.
It is further alleged that:
two victims were sitting in their vehicle when two male suspects approached wearing masks to disguise their identities
one suspect produced a handgun and demanded the victims exit the vehicle
the suspects entered the victim’s vehicle
a police vehicle drove past the area on an unrelated call causing the suspects to exit the victim’s vehicle and flee the area empty-handed
A short time later, members of the Hold Up Squad, with the assistance of officers from 22 Division and 53 Division, located the previously stolen vehicle.
It is further alleged that:
officers observed two suspects exit the vehicle and took them into custody
the third suspect drove the vehicle a short distance before losing control and crashing into a pole near Browns Line and Evans Avenue
officers located a third suspect and took them into custody after a brief foot pursuit
Members of the Hold Up Squad continued their investigation and executed three Criminal Code Search Warrants in relation to their investigation.
It is further alleged that at the time of the arrests, officers recovered items of evidentiary value related to the investigation, including the following:
a loaded handgun
a replica handgun
An image of the handguns has been released.
Zacharia Abdi-Hassan, 22, of Mississauga, was charged with:
three counts of Robbery With a Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Loaded Firearm
Careless Storage of a Firearm
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
Dangerous Operation of Conveyance
Fail to Comply with Probation
He was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 105.
A male youth, 17*, of Vaughan, was charged with:
three counts of Robbery With a Firearm
three counts of Disguise With Intent
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Loaded Firearm
Careless Storage of a Firearm
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Fail to Comply with Release Order
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 606.
A male youth, 16*, of Toronto, was charged with:
three counts of Robbery With a Firearm
three counts of Disguise With Intent
Point Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Loaded Firearm
Careless Storage of a Firearm
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Fail to Comply with Undertaking
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 606.
