Tragic Accident in Canada Claims Lives of Three Indian Students from Punjab, India

Three Indian students from Punjab were killed in a tragic car accident in Mill Cove, New Brunswick, Canada. The incident occurred on July 27 at approximately 9:35 pm on Highway 2, when a tyre came off their vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and veer off the highway. The three passengers were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene due to their injuries.

The victims were identified as siblings Harman Somal, 23, and Navjot Somal, 19, from Malaud village in Ludhiana. Harman was working in a daycare in Moncton, while Navjot had recently arrived in Canada on a study visa. The third victim was Rashmdeep Kaur, 23, from Samana in the Sangrur district, the daughter of government teachers Bhupinder Singh and Suchet Kaur.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist in repatriating the bodies of the deceased students to India.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, 633 Indian students have died abroad in the last five years due to various reasons, with Canada recording the highest number of deaths at 172, followed by the US with 108.
