Two men from Ontario and British Columbia have been charged in connection with a December 2022 shooting in Surrey that left an innocent 44-year-old victim seriously injured. The RCMP announced that Juan Pablo Segovia-Sanhueza, 23, from the Toronto area, and Terry Rodney Jeffrey McDonald, 26, from Surrey, are facing charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm with intent. Additionally, McDonald is charged with arson causing property damage.
The RCMP disclosed for the first time that the victim, who was shot in Surrey’s Cloverdale neighborhood near 188 Street and 64 Avenue in broad daylight, was targeted by mistake. Authorities reported that the victim was hospitalized with serious injuries but has since recovered.
A black Jeep SUV riddled with bullet holes in the windshield was found at the scene following the December 17 incident. Both Segovia-Sanhueza and McDonald remain in custody, and further details about the case are being withheld while it is before the courts. The RCMP emphasized their dedication in solving the case, stating, “Investigators worked tirelessly and were able to determine that this shooting was that of a mistaken identity.”
