Update – Charges Laid in Two Newmarket Shootings
Investigators with the York Regional Police Firearms Investigations Team have
charged a suspect after shots were fired at a home in the Town of Newmarket on
two separate occasions.
On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 1 a.m., police responded to
reports of gunshots in the area of Hewitt Circle and Plantation Gate. Officers
located damage to two vehicles parked in a driveway, as well as the garage and
front door of the residence. The home was occupied at the time, however no
physical injuries were reported.
On Thursday, October 23, 2025, at approximately 4:40 a.m., police responded
additional reports of gunshots at the same address. The suspect fired multiple
rounds toward the residence and vehicles in the driveway. One victim inside a
parked vehicle was struck by gunfire and was transported to hospital with
serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Through investigation, a suspect was identified and, on March 4, 2026,
investigators executed search warrants at a residence in the City of Mississauga
and a residence in the City of Brampton and located a firearm and high-capacity
magazines and a quantity of a controlled substance.

* Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device x3
* Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
