Thousands expected at one of Canada’s largest Sikh celebrations on April 12
Vancouver is preparing to welcome thousands of attendees for the annual Vaisakhi Parade on Saturday, April 12, 2025 — one of the largest and most vibrant Sikh celebrations in the country. Hosted in South Vancouver, the parade honours the creation of the Khalsa in 1699 and the spring harvest in Punjab. Organized by the Khalsa Diwan Society and first held in 1979, the event draws locals and visitors alike for a day of culture, tradition, and community.
The festivities begin at 11 a.m. at the Ross Street Temple (located at Southwest Marine Drive and Ross Street) and run until 5 p.m. Along the parade route, visitors can expect live performances, cultural displays, free vegetarian food stalls, and community service — all rooted in the Sikh tradition of Langar Seva, a communal meal prepared and served by volunteers for all.
Mayor Ken Sim extended wishes to the Sikh community and paradegoers, highlighting the event as a reflection of Vancouver’s strength through diversity and inclusion. The city is encouraging everyone to participate in the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect.
