Varun Dhawan Shares Funny Salman Khan Effect On David Dhawan During Film Festival Chat

Varun Dhawan recently gave fans a hilarious glimpse into how Salman Khan’s larger than life personality influenced his father, filmmaker David Dhawan. According to Bollywood Hungama, the moment came during a special fireside chat organized by PVR as part of the David Dhawan Film Festival, where Varun and David discussed films, memories, and their long journey in Bollywood.

The conversation also came ahead of the release of their upcoming comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 5. During the discussion, Varun joked that working with Salman Khan can change a person’s confidence and attitude. He recalled that after collaborating with Salman, David Dhawan started walking around bare bodied more often, leaving the audience laughing at the playful revelation.

David Dhawan responded warmly to the comment and praised Salman as a wonderful person to work with. Varun added that Salman has a unique charm and energy that makes people around him feel younger, more confident, and loved. He said both he and his mother had noticed the impact Salman had on David during their years of association.

David Dhawan also reflected on working with Salman for the first time in Judwaa, released in 1997. He admitted that in the beginning, he thought Salman appeared disinterested, but later realized that this was a misunderstanding. He recalled even speaking to producer Sajid Nadiadwala about Salman’s unusual working style before eventually understanding the actor better.

Over time, David and Salman went on to build a strong working relationship and personal bond. The director said they became like family, often spending time together after shoots. He even remembered moments when he would wake Salman up for filming and help pick out his outfits for the day.

Their successful collaborations continued through several films, including projects connected to Salman’s family. David Dhawan directed Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and Partner for Sohail Khan, both of which strengthened his connection with the Khan family. Looking back, David said he had a great time working with Salman and valued the relationship they developed over the years.
