BRAMPTON, Ont. It was a violent night across the Greater Toronto Area, with three people dead in separate homicides north, east and west of the city.
Peel Regional Police say they received a call of a stabbing in Brampton, Ont., at 2:21 a.m., and a man, identified as 63-year-old Glensbert Oliver of Brampton, later died of his injuries.
Const. Danny Marttini says it appears there was some kind of altercation and two people were stabbed.
The other victim, believed to be Glensbert’s son, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Meantime, Durham Regional Police say an 18-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Oshawa, east of Toronto.
And York Regional Police say a man is dead and a woman was sent to hospital with unspecified injuries after a shooting at a strip mall north of Toronto.
Officers responded to several reports of gunshots Thursday night near a restaurant in Markham, Ont.
When they arrived, officers found a man dead at the scene and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police say she was taken to hospital and is now in critical condition.
Witness reports say a motorcyclist was seen fleeing the area, but investigators are still trying to identify a suspect.
