A tragic plane crash in western Quebec has resulted in the death of a 57-year-old man, according to authorities. The incident occurred north of Low, Quebec, and prompted an emergency response.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) received an automated 911 call from the crash site around 1:30 a.m., triggering a search and rescue operation. Police officers on snowmobiles, assisted by Canadian Armed Forces helicopters, were dispatched to locate the victim.
The helicopters successfully located the crash site at approximately 10 a.m., but sadly, the man was found unresponsive and suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In a media release, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) confirmed the man’s death and announced that they would be sending a team of investigators to the crash site. The aircraft involved in the incident was identified as a Cessna 172.
The identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed. Low is situated approximately 60 kilometers northwest of downtown Ottawa.
