Amul India has released a creative tribute to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new series, ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, marking the director’s debut in the OTT space with a launch on Netflix on May 1, 2024. The series, set between 1920 and 1940 during the Indian independence movement, explores the lives of courtesans in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore against the backdrop of the British Raj.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, ‘Heeramandi’ has captivated audiences with its visual splendor and compelling performances, quickly becoming the most-watched Indian series on Netflix. It’s trending in the Top 10 in 43 countries and holds the second position on the Non-English TV List with 33 million accumulated viewership hours.
The Amul creative features the female leads of the series—Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh—enjoying bread and butter, symbolizing the show’s reception. Netflix responded playfully to the creative, encouraging viewers not to delay watching the series. Sanjay Leela Bhansali expressed his gratitude for the collaboration with Netflix and the global appreciation the show has garnered.
