Commuters traveling to and from Downtown Vancouver encountered significant disruptions on Monday evening as Canada Line service was suspended due to a medical emergency.
TransLink reported the incident at Vancouver City Centre around 5:15 p.m., with service resuming just before 8 p.m. While train frequency was being restored, the transit agency cautioned passengers to anticipate residual gaps in service and expressed gratitude for their patience.
The three-hour outage halted service between Waterfront Station and Olympic Village Station, resulting in a complete suspension of service in the downtown core.
Canada Line customers traveling northbound were directed to transfer to bus service at Broadway City Hall Station. Those beginning their journey from the affected stations were advised to utilize bus service and transfer to SkyTrain at Broadway City Hall to continue their journey via the Canada Line.
Bus bridges were implemented to facilitate commuter transportation past the impacted stations, while the Expo and Millennium SkyTrain lines remained unaffected by the disruption.
