Toronto: The Nepalese community participated in a “Food and Cultural Festival 2022” organized recently by Canadian Multicultural Council – Asians in Ontario – at the Korean Canadian Culural Centre in North York.
The program, started with the national anthem of Canada, and a reading of the land territory acknowledgement. Welcoming the guests, Council’s President Ms. Mar Mar Cho expressed her happiness to see all the guests making the program vibrant.
Delivering the keynote speech MP Paul Chiang highlighted on the legacy of Asian culture along with the contribution of Asians in strengthening Canadian diversity mosaic.
After the formal program, various ethnic dances and songs were performed by communities including those from Vietnam, Burma, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Philippines and others.
“Mahila Chautari” of the Nepalese community performed a typical Nepali dance portraying a pair of National flag at the backdrop.
Before the cultural program, guests were served foods from respective countries making the event venue get an ambience of an Asian culinary house.
Guests were amazed by the foods of different communities and flavor. Later, the program turned to fashion show parade. When people clad with their colorful and ethnic attire of different countries walked on the stage, the guests applauded expressing their pleasure.
At the end of the program, event chair Jiro Fukushima thanked all for their meaningful participation. Nepalese participation was coordinated by Canadian Multicultural Council’s Executive Vice President Prof. Dr. Tulsi Dharel. – Report by Uttam Makaju.
