Brampton: MPP Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria alongside Brampton City Councillor Jeff Bowman, has announced that the Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin (CMHA) will receive $150,000 to rebuild and recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This grant is part of the first round of funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s new $83-million Resilient Communities Fund.
With the $150,000 grant, CMHA Peel Dufferin will be able to rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19 by re-configuring traffic flow in the building and making needed renovations, installations, and safety upgrades to help with infection prevention.
“Non-profit organizations like the CMHA Peel Dufferin are a crucial and valued part of our community, especially here in Brampton,” said Prabmeet Sarkaria, Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction Member of Provincial Parliament for Brampton South “Countless people rely on their services every day, and even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, they still deliver.”
The Resilient Communities Fund provides grants of up to $150,000 to help non-profit organizations. They can apply for a broad and flexible range of needs, such as mental and physical health and wellbeing supports for staff or volunteers, identifying new health and safety processes, or purchasing new technology and personal protective equipment.
The fund will also provide grants to support capital needs, such as renovations and facility updates to meet the needs of the communities they serve.
