GO train service is set to resume on the Milton line and at Hamilton GO station starting Monday, following a temporary suspension caused by a railway labour dispute. Metrolinx announced the return of service, advising passengers that there may be some schedule adjustments as operations return to normal.
The service suspension, which began last week due to work stoppages at Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), left thousands of commuters seeking alternative transportation. The disruption followed a lockout triggered by failed contract negotiations between the rail companies and their workers.
The federal government intervened, requesting the Canada Industrial Relations Board to issue a back-to-work order, which was granted on Saturday. While the union representing the rail workers has agreed to comply, they have stated their intention to appeal the ruling.
Metrolinx has assured customers that additional resources will be on hand to address any further disruptions, and they expressed gratitude for passengers’ patience during the labour dispute.
