Peel Regional Police have apprehended a suspect accused of stealing a vehicle from a luxury car dealership in Brampton during a test drive, where he purportedly threatened an employee with a firearm. The incident occurred on March 7, 2024, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
The 21-year-old suspect, Romeo Cyr from Montreal, allegedly participated in a test drive at the dealership located in the Mayfield and Dixie roads area. After a brief period, he reportedly informed a dealership employee, who was accompanying him, that he was armed and forcibly removed them from the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Authorities, aided by both Peel and Toronto officers, successfully traced the suspect’s address to Toronto. Following the execution of a search warrant, Cyr was arrested, and the stolen vehicle was recovered. Additionally, law enforcement seized another vehicle believed to be stolen in February from the same property.
Cyr now faces charges including robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, and uttering a forged document. While these charges are pending court proceedings, police anticipate further charges as the investigation progresses.
