MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – A man has been charged with first-degree murder more than a year after an alleged mistaken-identity shooting west of Toronto.
Peel regional police say 23-year-old Jason Ramkishun was shot on Highway 410 in Mississauga, Ont., in November 2018 because he was driving the same type of car as a different man.
They say Ramkishun’s death was connected to two other shootings that all took place within a week that month.
Adrian Williams, 25, has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder for his alleged role in two of the shootings.
His brother Akeem Williams, 28, is charged with attempted murder in one of the shootings allegedly linked to the highway killing.
Police say the homicide led them to a gun-and-gang investigation that’s resulted in 15 arrests and more than 100 charges.
