Peel Regional Police have uncovered unsettling details regarding a Brampton homicide that occurred last January, revealing that one of the suspects arrested was on federal parole for firearm-related offenses at the time of the shooting.
The incident unfolded on January 18, 2024, near Vivians Crescent and Stokes Road, following reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Chinguacousy Road and Queen Street West.
According to authorities, a violent altercation ensued between the victim, 29-year-old Tesean Alvarez, and another occupant of a vehicle, culminating in an exchange of gunfire. Alvarez was subsequently transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
In April, police made significant progress in the case, apprehending three individuals allegedly linked to the incident.
Qeyran Hannay, 24, of Brampton, was charged on April 3, 2024, with two counts of attempted murder using a firearm, alongside other weapons charges. It was disclosed that Hannay was on federal parole for firearm-related offenses during the time of the incident.
Additionally, on April 4, 2024, Nathaniel Bowen, 21, of Brampton, was arrested and is facing charges of second-degree murder, attempted murder, and various weapons offenses. Taliek Whittaker, 22, of Brampton, also faces a charge of accessory after the fact to murder.
