Man Arrested in Fraud Investigation, Image Released

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in a Fraud investigation.
It is alleged that:
between November 2022 and December 2023, the suspect was employed at a not-for-profit organization in Toronto
the suspect created false vendor invoices and bills that were payable to bank accounts he had access to
the suspect used funds from the not-for-profit to pay these fraudulent invoices and bills
the suspect fraudulently obtained an excess of $700,000 from the not-for-profit organization
On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Abbas Ali, 36, of Richmond Hill was arrested and charged with:
two counts of Fraud Over $5000
two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
two counts of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Forgery
Utter Forged Document
Launder Proceeds of Canadian Crime
He is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armory Street, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 11 a.m., in room 203.
Investigators believe there may be more victims.
