Two Men Arrested in Fraud Investigation

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of arrests made in an Email Fraud investigation.
It is alleged that:
businesses in Ontario and British Columbia received fraudulent emails requesting payment of outstanding invoices
businesses were directed to change their banking information
businesses later discovered that they had been misled into changing their banking information and found that the monies had already been removed
In January 2024, officers from 32 Division’s Fraud Unit began an investigation and connections were made to other jurisdictions. Investigators collaborated with the Abbotsford Police Department, Guelph Police Service, and the Ontario Provincial Police Cybercrime Investigations Team.
On Friday, April 26, 2024, a suspect was taken into custody by Canada Border Services Agency when he returned to Canada and was arrested by the Toronto Police Service.
Jean-Pierre Godeme, 32, of Toronto, has been charged with:
four counts of Fraud Over $5000
four counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
28 counts of Possess Credit Card Obtained by Crime
He was scheduled to attend the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m., in room 105.
On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Vignon Kikissagbe, 33, of Ottawa, was charged with:
Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
three counts of Fraud Over $5000
three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
two counts of Possess Credit Card Obtained by Crime
22 counts of Use Credit Card Obtained by Crime
22 counts of Laundering Proceeds of Crime
He was scheduled to attend court at Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in room 105.
Investigators are seeking to identify other persons involved in this complex fraud scheme. Investigators from the respective agencies have identified over $437,000.00 in losses.
