A 24-year-old Indian man was apprehended at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi for attempting to board an Air Canada flight by impersonating an elderly man. This unusual incident involved the individual, who had dyed his hair and beard white and wore glasses to appear significantly older than his actual age. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intercepted him, suspecting his involvement in human trafficking and the use of false documentation.
The man presented a passport under the name Rashvindar Singh Sahota, claiming to be 67 years old. However, authorities noted inconsistencies in his appearance, voice, and skin texture, which seemed much younger than the information on the passport suggested. Closer inspection revealed his disguise, prompting further questioning.
During interrogation, the man confessed his real identity as Guru Sewak Singh and produced a digital copy of his authentic passport on his phone. This confirmed his age and true identity, contradicting the false persona he had assumed for the flight.
The CISF, vigilant in its efforts to combat such fraudulent activities, highlighted this case on their social media platform, noting the man’s attempted deception. He was subsequently handed over to the Delhi Police, where he faces potential legal consequences under the Indian Penal Code. These could range from fines to imprisonment, depending on the severity of the charges.
This incident underscores the lengths some individuals may go to in circumventing security measures and the importance of thorough checks at international airports. The CISF’s diligence in identifying and intercepting such attempts plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and preventing illegal activities.
