In Mississauga, charges have been laid against a 25-year-old man following a high-speed crash that resulted in the deaths of two individuals earlier this month. The accident occurred at the intersection of Dixie Road and Eglinton Avenue on April 4.
According to Peel Regional Police, the crash involved two Audi sedans—one green and one white—traveling northbound at excessive speeds. The white Audi lost control and struck a hydro pole after colliding with a Honda SUV that was executing a left turn at the intersection. The impact was fatal for both the driver and the passenger of the white Audi, who were reportedly not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The driver of the green Audi has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, as well as racing and speeding. Following the charges, his license has been suspended for 30 days and his vehicle has been impounded for 14 days. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 13. Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and no injuries were reported from the occupants of the green Audi.
