Spring may be here according to the calendar, but Ottawa is in for a wintry blast this week.
Environment Canada has issued a warning for Ottawa and eastern Ontario, forecasting 10 to 25 cm of snow on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to a “significant weather outlook” by the agency, Ottawa and parts of eastern Ontario could experience 5-15 cm of snowfall on Wednesday, followed by an additional 5-10 cm on Friday as the system moves away from the region. Meanwhile, other areas in eastern Ontario may see 15-20 cm of snow on Thursday.
“Confidence is still low at this point due to the uncertainty of the low track temperature,” Environment Canada stated on social media.
The forecast from Environment Canada indicates snowfall for both Wednesday and Thursday.
The historical records show that the greatest snowfall on April 3 in Ottawa was 26.7 cm, recorded in 1975, while the record for April 4 stands at 9.2 cm, set in 2004. Notably, Ottawa experienced a 10 cm snowfall on March 31, 2019.
