Woman arrested for Striking a Toronto Police Service Horse at a Demonstration, Gerrard Street East and Parliament Street

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in an investigation into a woman striking a Toronto Police horse.
On Saturday, March 30, 2024, officers were conducting crowd management at a demonstration in the Gerrard Street East and Parliament Street area.
It is reported that:
a woman attended the demonstration
during the demonstration, a woman intentionally used a flagpole to strike a Toronto Police Service horse and then fled the area
the horse did not sustain any injuries

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Maryam Alnazer, 61, of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with:
Obstruct Peace Officer
Assault Peace Officer
2 counts of Assault with a Weapon
Weapons Dangerous
She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 11 a.m., in room 203.
