If you attended the 2019 Canadian International Auto Show, you’d have probably seen an interesting race car on the Nissan booth, and wondered what it really was!
Well, the car in question was the Nissan LEAF NISMO RC and it is an electric racing car prototype, and is one of just a handful that currently exist around the world.
It is powered by two electric motors -one propelling the front wheels, the second propelling the rear wheels- and combined they deliver 322 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque.
Nissan is using the LEAF NISMO RC as a test bed for future electric vehicles, and this concept race car combines the technology of the current Nissan LEAF road car and their Formula E racing car.
Will the LEAF NISMO RC be seen competing with other cars on the track, or have its own race series? That remains to be seen!
However, the LEAF NISMO RC will see lots of action in Canada, as it is going to serve as the pace car for the Nissan Micra Cup at three events – two of which will be in Ontario, and one in Quebec.
Nissan has invested heavily in electrified vehicles, and this concept racer is just another example of things to come. From what has been shown so far, the future is looking green, fast, and exciting.
