In Mississauga this month, two separate armed carjackings led to the apprehension of five teenage boys. According to Peel police, the first incident took place on August 15 around 6 p.m. During this event, a woman was parked at a Mississauga apartment complex in her 2022 Honda Civic. Four individuals with concealed identities and armed with bladed weapons approached her. In a press release, law enforcement stated, “The victim was parked in her vehicle, a 2022 Honda Civic, outside a City of Mississauga apartment complex when four suspects approached her with their identity disguised and who had an edged weapon.” The suspects demanded her vehicle, forcibly removed her, and escaped with the stolen car.
After an investigation, two suspects were arrested on the subsequent Wednesday. Both of these individuals, aged 17, are residents of Mississauga. They have been charged with robbery and disguise with intent. The press release did not mention the other two suspects, and it’s unclear whether they are still at large.
The second carjacking unfolded on Wednesday at approximately 11:45 p.m. The victim, a food delivery driver, was stationed outside an apartment complex in his 2023 Nissan Rogue. Three suspects, with their identities masked, approached him. Each of them was armed with an “edged weapon.” Together, they demanded the victim’s vehicle, forcibly removed him, and made their getaway in the stolen car.
A rapid response by investigators led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle through a high-risk traffic stop. All three suspects were apprehended along with the recovery of three bladed weapons. Among the suspects were two 17-year-olds and a 14-year-old male youth, all hailing from Mississauga. They have been charged with robbery and disguise with intent. Additionally, the 14-year-old faces charges for violating two separate release orders.
All five youths involved in the alleged carjackings were detained for bail hearings. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, their identities cannot be disclosed. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the police or provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
