A high school in Brampton found itself in lockdown, with several others placed under hold-and-secure orders, following reports of a student altercation that may have involved a weapon.
Peel Regional Police responded to a call about a fight at a school near Williams Parkway and Bramalea Road shortly after 8:30 a.m. While there were reports of a possible sighting of a gun or knife, police clarified that this had not been confirmed.
Chinguacousy Secondary School was swiftly placed in lockdown as a precautionary measure, with other nearby schools including Judith Nyman PSS, Williams Parkway PES, Jefferson PES, and St. John Bosco CES placed under hold-and-secure orders as well.
After several hours of investigation, police lifted the hold-and-secure orders on the other schools around 11 a.m., though the lockdown at Chinguacousy PSS remained in effect.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the altercation. The situation remains under police investigation, with the safety and well-being of students and staff being of paramount concern.
