An Ontario woman, Cynthia Pullano, faced unexpected expenses during her trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when Priceless Car Rental refused to accept her Canadian car insurance. Pullano, who had booked the car rental through Expedia, was shocked to learn upon arrival that she needed to purchase additional insurance from the rental company.
Despite having rental coverage through her own policy, Pullano was forced to pay an extra $562 for insurance and toll fees, on top of the initial $372 for the rental. Priceless Car Rental cited previous claims being denied as the reason for not accepting Canadian insurance, leaving Pullano feeling frustrated and out of options.
While Pullano seeks a refund for the additional expenses, she has encountered difficulties in obtaining one from the rental company. The Insurance Bureau of Canada confirms that Canadian policies typically cover car rentals in the United States, but businesses reserve the right to reject foreign insurance.

Pullano’s experience serves as a cautionary tale for Canadian travelers renting cars abroad, emphasizing the importance of understanding insurance limitations and thoroughly reviewing rental agreements before booking.
