The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) has been recognized as one of the top employers in Canada, ranking second on Forbes Magazine’s Canada’s Best Employers list for 2024. In partnership with market research firm Statista, Forbes assessed organizations and companies across Canada to identify the best places to work. CHEO’s second-place ranking is just behind The Hershey Company.
In addition to this honor, CHEO has also been named a top employer in the National Capital Region for the 12th consecutive year by Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
Despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, CHEO’s staff, medical professionals, and learners came together to respond to the difficult circumstances in late 2022. This recognition comes as a testament to CHEO’s supportive work environment, competitive compensation, and opportunities for career growth.
Forbes’ Best Employers in Canada list relies on survey data collected by Statista from more than 12,000 participants working at organizations with over 500 employees. Participants were asked to evaluate various aspects of their employer, including working conditions and growth potential.
CHEO holds the distinction of being the number one pediatric health-care organization to work for in Canada, the top hospital in Ontario, and one of the top three health employers in the country.
Alex Munter, CHEO’s President and CEO, expressed gratitude for these designations and acknowledged the dedication, passion, and can-do spirit of the hospital’s staff, medical professionals, learners, and their families.
Other organizations in the National Capital Region also received high rankings, with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Carleton University securing the 10th and 12th positions, respectively. Gatineau-based Elections Canada and Parks Canada also achieved top-ten rankings.
CHEO, with a team of over 2,500 doctors, nurses, and professionals, manages nearly 7,000 admissions, over 7,000 surgeries, and nearly 200,000 clinic visits each year, serving children, youth, and their families.
