Simple Amazing Traditional Aloo Gobi Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup peas (optional)
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and cook until they begin to crackle.
  2. Add the onions and sauté until they are translucent.
  3. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the spices are fragrant.
  5. Add the cauliflower, potatoes, peas (if using), tomato puree, water, and salt to taste. Stir well to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat, and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for 10-15 minutes
