Toronto police say they have charged a man with arson after a house fire in the city’s west end that left one person dead.
Fire officials say about 45 firefighters responded when the fire erupted around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
They say flames could be seen from outside the home.
Several firefighters were overcome with heat exhaustion as they tackled the blaze and one was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The person who died was found inside the house.
Police say the arson charge could be upgraded as their investigation continues.
