TORONTO: Lieutenant Governor of Ontario of Ontario Elizabeth Dowdeswell., Federal Minister of Housing and Diversity & Inclusion Ahmed hussen, Ontario Minister for Seniors and Accessibility and MPP for Scarborough North, Toronto Mayor John Tory and others were guests at the Dragon Ball Gala organized by the Yee Hong Foundation.
The event was at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Ramond Cho tweeted after the Scarborough event: “Thrilled to ring in #LunarNewYear at Scarborough town Centreon this Lunar New Year’s Eve. Lion dance, God of Fortune, red lanterns, lucky pockets. It felt extra festive with this celebration resuming after a 2-year pause.”
Mayor Tory also attended the Lunar New Year celebrations at the Splendid China Mall. He tweeted: “An excellent evening at Splendid China Mall for #Lunar NewYear celebrations. Great to join community leaders, local residents as well as owners and staff of the more than 150 Chinese businesses in the mall to mark the #YearOfTheRabbit.”
The festival celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar and solar Chinese calendar.
