Brampton – On January 9, 2023, MP Shafqat Ali hosted a Platinum Jubilee Pin presentation ceremony to honor the members of the Peel Regional Police (PRP) at his Brampton Centre constituency office.
Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II – Jubilee Pin was presented in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and leadership towards keeping our local communities safe. Representatives of local media including ZeeNine TV, Toronto 360 TV, Y Media, South Asian Daily, Image Magazine and Radio Pakistan Toronto were attended to cover this occasion and had an insightful discussion with the PRP members.
Chief Nishan Durraiappah was recognized with the Platinum Jubilee Pin to honor his hard work, dedication, and leadership to the Peel Regional Police. Since being appointed as Chief of Peel Regional Police in 2019, Chief Durraiappah has committed to the safety and well-being of this community with a focus on mental health and partnerships with multiple sectors to reduce risk. Due to an urgent matter, Chief Durraiappah was not able to be present. He was represented by PRP’s Government Relations Specialist, Sara Alimardani, who received the Pin on the Chief’s behalf.
Inspector Peter Danos was recognized with the Platinum Jubilee Pin to honor his leadership in handling the recent police standoff due to a hostage situation, which lasted nearly 19 hours at Credit Valley Hospital. His leadership and teamwork resolved the situation without any injuries.
Inspector Danos is also leading the ProAction Cops and Kids Peel Chapter. This initiative was established to allow Peel Regional Police Services to engage under-resourced youth and make a positive impact.
Constable Judith Solomon was recognized with the Platinum Jubilee Pin to honor her bravery. She showed great heroism when she came to help a victim who had been stabbed in the neck at a pharmacy. She managed to evacuate the pharmacy and arrest the suspect all on her own. She demonstrated excellent service to protecting our community, her heroic actions prevented loss of life, harm to others and a volatile situation from escalating
