A 25-year-old Brampton man is facing several charges after a dramatic incident at a Mississauga drive-thru, where he attempted to drive over police cruisers while in an allegedly stolen vehicle. The event, which occurred on Tuesday evening at Westwood Square near Goreway and Etude Drive, was widely shared on social media.
Peel police were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after reports that the man, driving a Ford Bronco, had returned to the area after a prior theft. Officers found the SUV at a Tim Horton’s drive-thru and determined it had been stolen in London, Ontario. They surrounded the vehicle to prevent the driver from fleeing, but videos posted online show the man trying to escape by driving over the police cruisers.
The suspect even mounted the front of one of the police cars, attempting to break free, but officers managed to pin the vehicle, preventing further escalation. A witness at the scene described seeing the man try to climb out of the SUV before officers deployed a Taser.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. The man now faces multiple charges, including three counts of possessing stolen property, flight from police, and dangerous operation of a vehicle. He is being held for a bail hearing.
